GENERAL
Fees are due before the start of term or before your first class.
Parents must fill out an enrolment form upon booking their child/ children into classes at Bearwood Ballet School which includes all up to date contact information. Contact information MUST be kept up to date at all times.
In the event you fail to show up for your classes or your child is sick the fees are non refundable. Make-up classes may be arranged through discussing with the Principal (Miss Karis) if this is appropriate.
By accepting enrolment in the school, parents acknowledge and accept that ballet instruction often involves some degree of physical touch and some tactile placement correction by the teacher.
If you wish to withdraw your child from Bearwood Ballet School, half a term’s notice in writing is required.
All staff at Bearwood Ballet School have a fully enhanced DBS check.
Bearwood Ballet School is a breastfeeding friendly zone and welcomes breastfeeding during class.
Parents/ guardians are requested to accompany their children to and from the studio at Lightwoods House and stay with their children during the class at all times.
Bearwood Ballet School permits only 1 parent/ guardian to accompany their child during the class to prevent overcrowding and shyness amongst our pupils.
Bearwood Ballet School cannot be held responsible for children outside the studio/hall or outside class times.
Parents/ guardians are responsible for any and all toilet breaks needed by their children. No staff member is to take a child to the toilet alone under any circumstance.
All injuries will be recorded in the Accident book. Basic First Aid equipment is available at Lightwoods House.
Bearwood Ballet School and its staff do not take responsibility for lost property but when we find items we will keep them in our possession until collected.
Child protection and behaviour policy
It is the policy of the school to provide efficient, up-to-date, enjoyable and safe instruction in ballet to all pupils who enrol in the school or join in the classes or activities.
The premises and equipment will be checked regularly for any defects or faults that exist or may have developed which might present hazards to any attending the premises, any issues will be immediately reported to the manager of Lightwoods House.
All instruction will be geared to the experience and abilities of the pupil(s) and no person will be required to perform movements beyond their intrinsic capabilities.
An accident book will be kept to allow records to be kept of any incident in the school, injuries of any nature to staff or pupils.
All pupils MUST be accompanied by a parent/ guardian for the duration of all classes.
A member of staff will remain on the premises until all pupils and parents/ guardians have left.
Only suitably qualified persons will be employed in a teaching capacity while any student engaged to assist with teaching will only work under the supervision of a qualified member of staff.
The school Principal will ensure that she and the members of staff are properly covered against incidents involving public liability and professional negligence insurance.
A pupil may be temporarily or permanently excluded at the discretion of the Principal.
Any and all staff will be sensitive to all pupils’ religious beliefs and culture.
No form of discrimination by religion, race, the child’s and their family’s background and so on will be tolerated at Bearwood Ballet School.
At all times, any and all staff will endeavour to keep the highest standards of instruction and behaviour.
The Principal retains the right to remover any pupil and/or parent/ guardian from the school who persistently disrupts the tuition, uses offensive language, or other anti-social behaviour.
Photography
Photographs/video recordings may not be taken during classes without the express permission of the teacher.
The Principal may on occasion request permission from parents/ guardians to photograph pupils during the class for three purpose of advertising. Permission will also be asked prior to any photography taking place and permission slips will be provided.
There is one exception to (1) which is the ‘watching day’ class when all parents/guardians are encouraged to come and view class. Through discussion with Principal if consent is given by all parents/guardians then photographs/video recordings are permitted within this class.
General Health and safety policy
To provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our work activities.
To ensure any and all staff are competent to do their tasks, are updated on all health and safety measures and hold enhanced DBS checks.
To maintain safe and healthy working conditions and maintain safe equipment in the classroom.
No food or drinks (except water, milk/ breastmilk etc) are allowed in the classroom at any time.
To help us prevent the spread of illness and infections, please maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and alert the Principal ahead of class of any sickness at home which may prevent your child from attending class.
Please do not attend class if you or your child are symptomatic of viral illness.
To review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals.
